They can come in the mail, over the phone, and even via text messages… Real estate investors use all these tactics to find potential properties to buy – even reaching out to homeowners who haven’t considered selling.
If this is happening to you, it can be a little bit confusing — why are random strangers contacting you about buying your Michigan home? What is their motivation?
This is actually more common than you might think.
Real estate investors pull big databases of addresses and contact people who they think might be interested in selling. They cast a wide net and hope to snag a few good fish. Of course, getting a message or an offer like this does not, of course, mean that you’re obligated to sell to any of these investors – and don’t let them make you think otherwise.
But if you are intrigued and thinking about selling your house fast for cash to an investor who’s reached out to you, then be sure to vet their company to make sure they operate with integrity.
Give Them a Call
Call them and ask them questions about their process. Don’t email or text – talk to them on the phone to get a sense of their attitude and tone. Do they seem honest and straightforward, or are they just trying to pressure you?
Google Their Business
What do you find when you Google their business? Look at the reviews! Check their social media accounts too. You might be able to glean information from comments people post, and how the company responds.
Do They Follow Through?
When the investor schedules a meeting with you, do they show up on time? Do they do what they say they’re going to do? These are good indicators of how easy the investor will be to work with.
